Fabrizio Romano gives update on two Chelsea players in difficult contract situations

Chelsea don’t look like they will do too much transfer business in January in terms of buying and selling players, but they’ve got a lot to think about on the contract front, and Fabrizio Romano has just given an update on two of those situations.

Well, we say an update, there’s no new news to be had. He just repeats that Thiago Silva is going to stay, it’s just a matter of sorting out the paperwork.

Antonio Rudiger’s situation is similarly stuck on repeat. The defender is likely to go, there’s been no new push from Chelsea’s end, and Real Madrid still look most likely to secure him as their latest big money free agent signing.

We’ve now less than two weeks away from either player being able to sign a pre-contact with their next club, so after a long period of stasis, we do actually expect some movement soon.
