Frustrated Hudson-Odoi could still have his best season yet after breaking Arjen Robben record

Callum Hudson-Odoi has had a frustrating season – but it could yet become his best.

At first he was struggling for chances, with the addition of Romelu Lukaku pushing him back in the pecking order. But a slew of injuries ensured CHO got his chance, and he played really well to keep his place.

His own versatility has since cost him however, as he was called into action at left and right wing back when the squad was really stretched. Then a bout of Covid set him back once again in his progress to become an undisputed regular.

But he was given another chance against Aston Villa on Boxing Day and looked great, picking up two assists to take him to 11 in his Chelsea career.

Still just 21, he’s the youngest Chelsea player to crack 10 assists at that age, beating the record of a certain Arjen Robben, who had two blistering seasons at the club before leaving for Real Madrid.

If Callum now stays fit and in the team for the rest of the campaign, we could see him rack up another 4 or 5 and really turn some heads.
