Antonio Rudiger’s chances of staying at Chelsea beyond the expiration of his contract at the end of this season have really dwindled to almost nothing, and it really seems a case of him picking his new destination at this stage.
Chelsea have made their offers, Rudiger hasn’t agreed with them. There’s only so much back and forth there can be left.
As for the teams coming to sign him off us – there’s long standing links with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, who both seem capable of offering him what he wants. Yesterday Sky Germany then added a new name to the list – Manchester United.
With a normal transfer, Chelsea would prefer not to sell their good players to league rivals. But as it’s a free transfer, Rudiger can go anywhere.
It would be a real kick in the teeth to see him at United, but there’s not a huge amount the club can do.
