Much like last season, Mason Mount had a little bit of an autumn slowdown this year. Frank Lampard took him out of the team for a bit, and his wisdom tooth problem this time around gave Thomas Tuchel the chance to do the same.
Since then he’s been back with a bang, and he’s got the stats to show for it. After the disappointing result against Manchester United which he started on the bench, Mount was brought into the team to face Watford, and he’s really stepped up for the team since.
He got a goal and an assist against the Hornets, then a goal and assists in the loss against West Ham last weekend.
Against Leeds, he only managed the goal without the assist.
Overall, that surge of productivity is just reward for a player who does so much more than just stat pad. If he can keep up this kind of form for the rest of the season, we will be on course for another major trophy.
