Several Chelsea players “shellshocked” after conceding last minute goal

Chelsea went into tonight’s game looking tired, and after 45 minutes against a feisty Brighton they looked spent.

So imagine how they feel, another two in-game injuries accumulated along the way, when they made it through 91 punishing minutes against the Seagulls, only to concede a headed equaliser to Danny Welbeck at the death.

It was evident from pictures – and for those in the stands – that this was a heart-breaking moment for those players who had given everything out there.

Several people on Twitter noted some of those particularly struck by this latest blow.

They had by no means played well, but they’d got the goal and kept the away team at bay, and given how exhausted most of them are, that’s worthy of some credit.

The painful thing is, we’ve got to get together and do it all again on Sunday when we face Liverpool. That’s a distressing thought right now.
