It’s only half time, but this game is already going in a very familiar direction.
Chelsea are dominating the ball. Their defenders are keeping it tight and getting forward to help in the attacks. Their attacking players are weaving between Everton’s lines and creating chances.
But – it’s 0-0. And if this game follows the course of a lot of our recent matches, the Toffees will score a goal out of nowhere and really send us into a spin.
Social media lit up on the half time whistle with complaints about our finishing, and just our plain ability to force the ball in when we need to.
Of course there are mitigating circumstances given the absences from the squad – but let’s not pretend it’s the first time we’ve seen this story. “So wasteful” bemoaned one Blue on Twitter, and we can’t disagree.

Mount just had to score…but Pickford saves. Rudiger denied a lovely assist. #CHEEVE

How is Pickford suddenly good when we play against him. Another huge chance.

Rudiger can seemingly play any role on the pitch. Almost a Zidane-esque assist for Mount.

We're so wasteful in attack it's actually disgraceful.
You can point to us missing players but if we're being honest it's like this no matter who plays.

Chelsea could make an incredible highlight video from tonight if you just stopped each clip before the shot.

That's half-time…0-0. Familiar script here. #CFC have played some nice stuff at times but failed to take their chances. #EFC will be encouraged by the fact they're still in this. #CHEEVE

Ugh. Don’t even want this 15 min HT break. Not much Tuchel can even say. He’s applauded our buildup play multiple times. We all know we just need to finish.

Im sick to death of seeing this. Every keeper turns into a Legendary Gk in their prime because we are mediocre in the final third. Its as simple as that. Its not the GKs, its US.
About time we have some accountability on the fact we’ve been toothless in front of goal https://t.co/hSkcgekSFq

When's it going to end Robbie? https://t.co/XMo2m8vYC6

Everton playing for 0-0 but are doing it very well.
Chelsea at 81.9% possession and ready to break records but aren't forcing the issue. Lacking intensity and creativity. Mitigating circumstances is that four forwards are out through Covid/suspected Covid. #CFC #CHEEVE
