Chelsea played both their games last week with spaces on the bench, so after the game against Wolves on Sunday, the Blues bit the bullet and added some of their youth players to first team training.
Given there are so many absences already, and more are likely to be added between now and tomorrow night when we play Brentford, it’s certain that some will be on the bench, and it seems odds on that a couple will get some minutes off the bench.
We might even see one start, if things get really bad in the next 24 hours.
Football.London has a list of candidates for minutes in the Carabao Cup: Teddy Sharman-Lowe, Xavier Mbuyamba, Harvey Vale, Josh Brooking, Alfie Gilchrist, Dion Rankine, Xavi Simons, Lewis Hall, Joe Haigh and Jay Warehamn.
They’ve all featured in training with Tuchel this week, and it will be interesting to see who caught his eye.
