It has certainly been far from plain sailing for Saul Niguez in his Chelsea career so far.
The Spanish international arrived as a deadline day signing at Chelsea in the final hours during the summer transfer window, but nobody expected him to be as poor as he has been so far.

Before Sunday he was nothing short of terrible and really didn’t even look like a football player with his poor touches on the ball and lack of ability to even make simply passes.
But finally yesterday Chelsea fans got to see the better version of Saul, perhaps the one that has seen him collect 19 Spanish caps in his career so far and be a regular for Atletico Madrid.
He came on in the second half in the 0-0 draw against Wolves and to be honest it was his best 45 in a Chelsea shirt so far. He was comfortable, composed, and did the basics very well playing in the holding midfield position.
Tuchel was pleased with his performance, as reported below…
Thomas Tuchel on Saul Niguez:
"He played well today, and in general we played better because the structure was better, the discipline was better in the structure. That helped us to be better. Saul was an important part of it."
