Thomas Tuchel hints that Ruben Loftus-Cheek could soon be back and will be assessed ahead of Brighton

Chelsea may soon have a big boost in the squad with the return of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, according to Thomas Tuchel.

Not only did the midfielder test positive for Covid-19 and was isolating due to that as per protocol, he was also nursing another new injury in what was a bit of a double whammy.

Tuchel has been seriously lacking midfielders in his squad in recent weeks after a bit of a Covid-19 outbreak in the camp, and he was even forced to call upon a number of the academy lads to fill spaces in the squad.

But there is some light at the end of the tunnel for Loftus-Cheek anyway, as Tuchel believes he could soon be back and even mentions assessments before the Brighton game this evening in the hope that he might be able to make the squad there.

In words reported on the Chelsea website today, Tuchel says:

“Ruben Loftus-Cheek is injured and suffers from Covid, so for the Brighton game I need to talk to the doctors and to the physios and to the fitness department, and then we will try to find solutions.”
