Thomas Tuchel names player who is “there to scare the Everton bench” tonight

Chelsea are back in Premier League action this evening as they host a struggling Everton side at Stamford Bridge.

Rafa Benitez is under a lot of pressure right now after some bad form during his spell as Everton boss, and Chelsea will be looking to take full advantage of that situation by heaping more pressure onto their former boss.

Thomas Tuchel delivered his latest team news yesterday and he did reveal that both Trevoh Chalobah and N’Golo Kante will be back in the squad after injuries.

The Blues boss joked also of a different kind of role for midfielder Kante this evening, saying that he is there ‘to scare the Everton bench!’

Tuchel confirmed that Kante will be starting the game on the bench tonight, but he is there to spark fear into the opponents every time he gets up to do a warm-up!

“Tomorrow he is there to scare the Everton bench,” Tuchel said as reported by Football London.

“Every time he stands up and I call his name out.

“It’s like this. He is superman, when he is on the pitch he gives you that feeling, maybe the stadium, he reassures everybody else on the pitch that we have some extra force there some extra gear and that’s why he is so important.

“Do you know how often I am to just catapulting him onto the pitch even if he is here at the training ground in the swimming pool or doing a water session because he is still in pain and I am asking everyone if he can play the next day, because who wants to play without him? Nobody.

“And of course we push him and we try to push him but things take their time and if a player feels pain, if a player feels discomfort I have learned that it makes no sense to push him.

“It needs to be a mix between pushing and also understanding that it takes confidence, belief and trust from the player that he is not in fear. Sometimes you have to accept it, even if you don’t like it.”
