A downcast Thomas Tuchel has just been speaking to the media after a disappointing draw with Everton, and the Chelsea manager was trying to not find excuses as his team’s poor run continued.
He bemoaned how his team had given away their precious lead to a free kick, and how after missing so many chances they had been “playing with fire” with the result.
In this league, that will always come back to bite you – as we’ve found out time and again in the last month or so.
Thomas Tuchel: "We had the lead & give it away with one free-kick. We could have been two or three up & were playing with fire. It is obvious we missed a lot of players, big personalities, regular starters, but we will not use it as an excuse." Kind of just did tho #CFC #CHEEVE

He pointed to the major absences from his team, and while he said he wasn’t using it as an excuse, he sort of was. But that’s fair enough – he had three attacking players available and not one to bring off the bench.
His first three strikers were all out injured. Can you really blame his team for struggling to find the net?
