Timo Werner is Chelsea’s most goal-efficient player this season

Timo Werner came into the Chelsea team and got two goals against Zenit on Wednesday night, and so spread out have the goals been for Thomas Tuchel’s team this season that that was enough to catapult Werner to the top of the goals per 90 minute list at the club this season.

Werner has 9 starts and 5 goals now. That puts him on 0.58 goals per 9 0muntes, while Romelu Lukaku is down on 0.46.

Werner’s last Premier League start was against Manchester United two weeks ago, and it didn’t go well. The way he moved off to the left wing didn’t help the team, and he looked rusty.

He’s had a lot more minutes since then however, and playing with Lukaku alongside him brings out a different side in both.

It remains to be seen whether their successful pairing against Zenit will get them a start tomorrow, but given they’re the best scorers per minute this season, it’s worth considering.
