Two positive injury updates for Chelsea among the chaos

Chelsea’s depleted squad were forced to play Wolves yesterday, and while they eventually came home with a draw, the concern remains more about how many of the squad will be fit to play later this week, let alone this weekend and beyond.

Covid is spreading through our squad faster than our players can recover, and that’s putting huge pressure on players coming back from injury to play sooner than they would like – and also putting pressure on the remaining fit players to play 180 minutes a week.

Thomas Tuchel saw two of his players taken off yesterday looking hurt, but when asked about their situations after the game he had some more comforting news.

“Trevoh, hopefully, it is just painful. At the moment, it is very painful. We still have hopes that it is not serious, but we need to wait for further examination,” the Chelsea coach said in quotes picked up by Football.London.

“For Hakim, I don’t think it’s bad. He got hit on his nerve on the calf. It was tight. He was limping and we had to take him off.”

It sounds like good news on both fronts – but given Chalobah has only just returned and Ziyech has played so many games in a row, we are really walking a tightrope with both.
