The Premier League went back from 5 subs to 3 subs this season, while the rest of Europe kept their temporary Covid solution in place.
The Carabao Cup still has 5 permitted changes though, and Thomas Tuchel took full advantage of that last night – he switched two players at half time and then 3 more through the second period.
After the game he spoke to Sky Sports about how useful it was, especially with squad being devastated by Covid. He described himself as a “big supporter” of the idea, and once again pushed the Premier League to consider reintroducing it.
