Willian has been back in the English media of late after doing some interviews on podcasts, and of course his time at Chelsea came up plenty.
It was interesting to hear his takes on the current squad – he knows most of them very well, especially some of the youngsters who will have been knocking around for years while the Brazilian was at the club.
He was asked who his favourite players in the squad were, and he picked out three academy products to start with.
“(Callum) Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount, Reece James,” the winger said in quotes picked up by Football.London, before getting more specific.
“I think Reece James [is my favourite]. I like him. He’s a very good player. I think he can be one of the best right-backs in the world in a few years.”
That’s pretty high praise from a player who has played with the very best, both at Chelsea and with Brazil.
If he reckons Reece can be the best in the world, who are we to disagree? He’s seen him in training, he’s played with him in games – and we’ve all seen how much he’s improved year on year.
