Everything has gone so well for Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea so far that we’ve not seen him have much cause to be frustrated.
Even after the defeat to West Ham at the weekend, he kept his nerve. But a second bad result on the spin has put him in a mood, as one unfortunate journalist found out when he asked the coach whether his team were listening to his instructions.
“I remind myself now that you’re normally a nice guy” a frosty Tuchel responded, before insisting he wouldn’t take the implications of the question too personally.
It seemed a fair question to us – if you say your team needs to focus for several games in a row and there’s no visible improvement, it’s reasonable to question if your message is getting across.

Thomas Tuchel didn’t appreciate being told that his players are not listening to instructions 😅#CFC

To be honest, despite the barb at the start his response is still very measured, but there’s no denying he showed a spiky side we aren’t used to yet.
