Frank Lampard is set to be the new Everton manager, so we’re going to see plenty of rumours over the next days, months and years linking Chelsea players with a move to join him in Liverpool.
Already the wheels are in motion – but the early front runner appears to be a coach, rather than a player.
Lampard worked with Anthony Barry when doing his coaching badges, and brought him to Chelsea in the summer of 2020.
Most significant part of Lampard taking #EFC job as far as #CFC are concerned is he wants to take Anthony Barry from Tuchel’s backroom staff. Not a done deal yet. Club/Tuchel will fight to keep him. More here: https://t.co/Wo2Nl512n8

Now, according to Simon Johnson of the Athletic, he’s looking to poach him for his new role.
We can see the logic in the rumour – but why would Barry want to leave? He may get a nominal promotion from first team coach to assistant, but he will be leaving a top coaching staff at a Champions League club and heading out into the unknown.
It seems like a risk to us, and given that Johnson says Tuchel is going to fight to keep him, we can see him being persuaded to stay put.
Chance of a lifetime. Everton the finest club in the world. Do it Mr. Barry.
