Chelsea can still be sold despite Abramovich being sanctioned

The news has been coming in thick and fast these last few moments with breaking reports that Roman Abramovich has been sanctioned by the UK Government.

The Blues have a game tonight against Norwich City in the Premier League, so this comes at the worst possible time, not that there ever is a good time for something like this.

It’s major news, and Chelsea are in trouble there are no two ways about it. They cannot sell tickets, they cannot sell merchandise, they cannot operate in transfer markets, and things are totally up in the air.

They CAN still sell the club though, but Abramovich will not be able to make a penny from the sale. I am not sure what kind of position that puts him in, because he was wanting to put any profits from the sale towards those effected in the Ukraine war anyway, so he might still decide to sell up. I can’t see any other options really.

So although the report below begins with saying Abramovich cannot sell, the below tweet clears up that he actually can, but he just can’t make anything from it…
