Marina Granovskaia’s position at Chelsea uncertain after sanctions

When it was announced that Roman Abramovich was going to try and sell Chelsea last week, plenty of journalists reported that such a sale wouldn’t necessarily mean the end of Marina Granovskaia.

The Chelsea director has been running the club for Abramovich for a long time, and so it seemed feasible that new owners would want her to stay on.

But the sanctions and the massive uncertainty around the club have blown that all away, and CaughtOffside now report exclusively that Marina’s future is in serious doubt.

While she won’t be directly sanctioned herself, it’s likely that her decades of connection to Roman could make her toxic for any new buyers – and indeed the prospects of a normal sale in any form are now greatly diminished.

This could be the end of more than just Roman at Chelsea, and nothing is off the table now. Marina might just be the start.
