Chelsea have been good in the first half against Manchester United – but more notable is how awful the home team have been.
Ralf Rangnick has taken a lot of flak for issues that weren’t his own, but there’s no denying that his team have been abject today, and he’s got to take some serious blame for their lack of energy and motivation, if nothing else. It’s not all his fault, but he hasn’t done anything to help.

Nizaar Kinsella pointed out the chilling fact that the Blues had approached Rangnick before they approached Thomas Tuchel last year after Frank Lampard was sacked.
Talk about a sliding doors moment. We might actually wake up sweating in the night wondering what could have been if Ralf had taken the job. We would have one fewer Champions League trophy, for starters.
Let’s hope Tuchel stays with us for years and we don’t have to worry about all this for a while.
