Didier Drogba responds to Premier League hall of fame induction

Didier Drogba has become the second Chelsea player to be inducted into the new Premier League hall of fame.

Frank Lampard was part of the inaugural class, but it hasn’t taken long for his old teammate Didier to join him.

Drogba scored 104 goals in 254 appearances over two spells at Chelsea, but even that doesn’t tell the full story.

He was a part of the well-oiled machine that was Jose Mourinho’s Blues side between 2004 and 2006 that cruised to two league titles and changed the division forever. He won a third title with Carlo Ancelotti in charge, and then added a fourth when he returned for Mourinho’s second spell.

Drogba reacted to the news on his social media, and you can see his Tweet here:

Still regarded as a fan favourite for his skills on the pitch and his charming personality off it, Drogba will always remain a Chelsea legend, and now has been honoured as an icon of the game in England more generally.

Congratulations Didier – we hope you will be back at Stamford Bridge with us soon to celebrate.
