Tammy Abraham has made a really strong start to life in Serie A with Roma.
The striker left Chelsea in the summer in the search for more game time, and he found the perfect landing spot with Jose Mourinho’s team in Italy.
He’s kept up his impressive career scoring rate on the peninsula, and so well have things gone that with less than a season passed, he’s already being linked with moves back to the Premier League.
“When I see reports linking me with other clubs it makes me feel good, it makes you feel like you’re doing something right. It’s a nice feeling seeing your name all over newspapers,” the striker said in quotes picked up in an exclusive interview with TalkSport.
“But for me it’s about focusing on doing my business here. I can keep getting linked with many clubs but who knows what the future holds?
“Of course I grew up in England, I’m a London boy. So maybe one day I’ll be back in the Premier League to make noise there.
“But for me right now it’s about focusing on Rome, on doing the best I can and hopefully winning these guys a trophy which they haven’t done in many years.”
To us, that sounds like pretty direct flirting with a move back sooner rather than later. Chelsea did pretty unceremoniously dump him for Romelu Lukaku last summer (and probably regret it) so you couldn’t blame Tammy for not wanting to come back anytime to Stamford Bridge soon.
Although in his quotes there’s more of a focus on London than Chelsea. Could we eventually see Tammy make the ultimate betrayal and go to play for Spurs or Arsenal? We certainly wouldn’t rule it out at this stage.
