More questions over Tuchel’s Trevoh Chalobah treatment after FA Cup final performance

Thomas Tuchel’s treatment of Trevoh Chalobah has been one of the stranger storylines of this latter part of the season.

The defender did really well in the first part of the season, before a dip in his form over Christmas lead to him getting fewer chances at the turn of the year.

That was understandable, but what has been less explicable is the lack of chances for Chalobah since the form of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger went off a cliff.

The Chelsea boss kept playing them, and even used Malang Sarr as a sub on several occasions, leaving Chalobah out.

He then compounded the whole situation in an even stranger way by suddenly bringing Chalobah back in for the game last week, then playing him again in the FA Cup final yesterday.

He played well – but it was a real risk to drop him in so undercooked.

The sudden changes have done Chalobah’s form no favours, and we really can’t see Tuchel’s logic in this case.
