New Chelsea owner makes summer plan to revolutionise squad

Todd Boehy has finally been installed as the new Chelsea owner and the sanctions have been lifted, meaning there’s a lot of catching up to do as the summer transfer window opens.

The Evening Standard today have an interesting piece which lays out what Boehly’s plans for the immediate future are.

He will be the “controlling owner” of the consortium, which has several big investors, and the American plans to spend “much of the summer” in London getting to grips with his new purchase and overseeing a “crucial transfer window.”

Jules Kounde is taken as a given as our first signing, but that will only be the start.

It’s also noted that young players out on loan will be brought back and given a chance, and there are various hints at a big, splashy signing. It is said that he agrees with Thomas Tuchel over “the need to rebuild the team.”

That seems a little extreme, but there’s certainly plenty to be done, and after months of delay, there’s a lot of catching up to be done.
