Todd Boehly to become Chelsea owner, chairman, and transfer negotiator all in one

If you’ve been out all morning or up in the air in a plane, or something entirely different that’s kept you away from the football news this morning, you’ll be completely shocked to log on and see some massive reports involving Chelsea today.

First of all, Chelsea officially announced that chairman Bruce Buck is stepping down from his role at the club, effective from the end of this month.

Sources: Chelsea are interested in signing Aymeric Laporte from Manchester City.

Then, Matt Law of The Telegraph dropped the bombshell that director Marina Granovskaia will be joining Buck in leaving her role at the club as well.

It’s some pretty big news for Chelsea and marks the start of big changes at the club under the new owners from top to bottom.

This means, that for the time being at least, that new owner Todd Boehly will not only be the owner of the club, but he’s also set to become the full time new club chairman, and maybe even the transfer negotiator this summer at least.

Law wrote:

“Buck will give up his role, which co-owner Todd Boehly is in line to fill, at the end of this month, and Telegraph Sports understands Granovskaia is in line to follow.

“Should her departure be confirmed before the transfer window closes, as some sources believe is now likely to be the case, Boehly will not only take on the chairmanship, but also take over transfer negotiations which Granovskaia had been in charge of during the reign of previous owner Roman Abramovich.”
