Chelsea hold ‘two meetings’ regarding player but ‘no agreement close yet’

Chelsea are currently working on a number of transfer deals to get sealed this window, potential outgoings and arrivals.

There’s a lot of work to do, but at the same time, the new club owners have even find time to sit down with current players to speak about extending contracts.

Edouard Mendy to be particular, in this instance at least. According to The Athletic, Chelsea’s new owners have already held two meetings with Mendy regarding extending his contract. However, as of now, no agreement is close.

Surprisingly, Mendy has three years left on his current deal. But Chelsea want to get their best players tied down to longer deals in order to avoid situations like they saw with Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger this summer.

There is some way though before they find a figure that will suit both Mendy and the club by the sounds of it, but more talks will occur.
