Chelsea saved by bad VAR decision in narrow win over West Ham

Chelsea have just beaten West Ham 2-1, but it should have been 2-2.

Moments after Chelsea scored their second to complete the turnaround, the Hammers went down the other end and scored.

Edouard Mendy pushed the ball clear and it landed at the feet of Maxwell Cornet, who took a touch and slammed the ball into the top corner.

But after a look from VAR, the referee was summoned to the monitors to take a look at the moment where Jarrod Bowen’s foot brushed Mendy as he cleared.

The keeper had already forced the ball out by the time he was hit by the foot, but as always the net minders are given high levels of protection from the ref, and once he was trotting over to the VAR stand we all knew what was coming.

You could argue Chelsea had it coming after we were robbed of two points against Spurs.
