How potential Cristiano Ronaldo transfer led to “bad relationship” between Tuchel and ownership

Christian Falk is a German football insider, and so he has been pretty quiet on the Chelsea front since our pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt ended earlier this summer.

But his Teutonic connections are coming up trumps now that Thomas Tuchel is the centre of attention, with the coach having been sacked this morning by Chelsea.

Falk has some interesting notes on what happened, including some shocking revelations about how the mooted move for Cristiano Ronaldo played into it.   lier

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly was keen, and Thomas Tuchel was not. According to Falk, as corroborated by some of the other stories, Tuchel was afraid that the Portuguese would “destroy the spirit” in his dressing room, while Boehly was thinking about the commercial impact.

This was apparently “one reason for the bad relationship” between the two parties.

Let’s hope this isn’t a sign of things to come with this ownership, who are hardly endearing themselves to the fans at the moment.
