Reece James is an official megastar now, and it was some top performances last season that really cemented him in that cateogry.
He’s gone from wonderkid to one of the top players in his position in the world, and there were a few matches in particular which caught the eye.
In his interview on the Official Chelsea website today he was asked to name his best showing in a Chelsea shirt, and he picked a game which we all loved from a year ago.
“Beating Juventus 4-0 last season. That was just a really good all-round team performance and a good performance for myself too,” James said.
“When you’re limiting errors and having a big impact on the game, scoring, not conceding, that’s what I think makes a good performance. I think there are many factors that come into it and they all play a part.”
It wasn’t just James’ best performance, it was Chelsea’s best for a long time. Sadly that game also was notable for the injury that Ben Chilwell picked up which he is still recovering from now, almost a year later.
The season – and Thomas Tuchel’s reign – were never the same after that high water mark.
Luckily for us, James still has new heights to hit.
