We’ve had a few hours to digest the terrible news about Reece James’ injury, and now more details are coming out about the story so far.
At full time on Tuesday night we were confident he had just been taken off as a precaution. He was happy on the pitch at full time with his teammates, and even his Instagram post about the problem seemed to play it down.
That seems to correlate with what Simon Phillips of this site has said about the situation.
According to him, the initial scan (in Milan after the game) indicated the knee problem wasn’t that serious.

But after the team returned to England, and after the swelling on the knock had decreased, James had another scan on Thursday which revealed serious damage.
Now, as Simon said, we face the “anxious wait” to find out whether the wing back will need surgery, or whether simple recovery will be risked.
