Chelsea quoted at least €80m for Rafael Leao – but Blues are not “scared” by price tag

Chelsea had a busy summer – and their January looks set to be hectic too.

Not only have they lost a lot of players to injury since the summer, they’ve also seen their results spiral dangerously, and it’s clear that reinforcements are needed if the club want to avoid falling out of contention for the top 4 entirely.

One player they’ve clearly got their eye on is dangerous Portugal winger Rafael Leao. He didn’t start often at the World Cup, but he was a menace off the bench, showing the kind of dribbling and shooting that Chelsea have really lacked.

The latest updates from the continent via SportWitness claim that Chelsea are being quoted “not less than €80m” for a January deal, a price which hasn’t put them off.

It’s a huge amount of money for a player who has yet to show he’s a top tier Champions League player. But if you put yourself in a position where you need to spend in January, this is just what happens.
