€40m transfer in “final stages” as defender deal comes out of nowhere

Fabrizio Romano has just Tweeted that a €35m to €40m deal for Benoit Badiashile is set to be “completed” soon.”

The young Monaco defender looks a great prospect, and there is now an agreement on personal terms with the Frenchman too as he prepares for a January move to the Premier League to reinforce Chelsea in central defence.

This deal has come out of nowhere, and now seems almost done. Whether you like it or not, it’s impressive, speedy work from the transfer team.

It’s always exciting to know you have a new players coming in. But there are two things that some fans might be uncomfortable about.

Number one is how this affects Levi Colwill’s future – the defender has finally broken into the Brighton team and is looking as good as ever. Number two is how this affects a future move for Josko Gvardiol, who looks a prospect of the very highest calibre.
