Transfer expert links Chelsea with move for World Cup goalkeeper hero

Chelsea could be in the mix to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer, with doubts hovering over both of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy.

Mendy is not expected to remain happy if he stays as second choice goalkeeper, and Kepa’s future has been in doubt for many seasons now and he could still look to move on in the summer depending on circumstances.

So Chelsea might well be looking into signing a new stopper in the summer, and maybe even two.

One goalkeeper who is going to be in high demand after a heroic World Cup, is Argentina stopper Emi Martinez, who is currently at Aston Villa.

A report from The Daily Express today has some interesting recent comments on Martinez and his future, with Manchester United touted as one of his main potential suitors.

Romano also names Chelsea as a potential club who could come forward to try and sign him.

Speaking on the CBS House of Champions podcast, the transfer expert said: “Emiliano Martinez could be a part of a domino effect with goalkeepers next summer, perhaps with Chelsea or Manchester United, let’s see.”

  1. Martinez was excellent, but the kid from Croatia, Livakovic, was even better (and should have won best keeper of the tournament). He’s the man we should target. (Him or Sommer).

On a related note, I sure hope the Jordan Pickford rumors are dead and buried.
