Chelsea’s next recruitment star joins up after compensation agreed

Some members of Chelsea’s recruitment team are having the busiest month of their life as the Blues tear around Europe on a shopping spree – but some are only just getting started.

The Athletic today report that Joe Shields has finally been released from his contract with Southampton so that he can take up his role as Chelsea’s “co-director of recruitment.”

After agreeing a deal in October, Shields was expected to serve his full 6 months of notice. However a compensation deal has been reached, and as of today he can get started working for us in an official role.

He will be hoping he hasn’t missed all the fun – although going on his record at Southampton and Manchester City before that, he will have a greater focus on recruiting in the younger age brackets, and won’t necessarily be the one flying out to try and negotiate huge deals for first team stars.
