Loan move for wonderkid collapses

Chelsea are back to square one with their hunt for a destination for Andrey Santos to go on loan after a move to Palmeiras collapsed in the early hours of this morning.

Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard is reporting that the terms Chelsea are trying to enforce on the deal have driven away the Brazilian giants.

After narrowly missing out on a work permit to join Graham Potter’s squad right away, the intention is to send Santos on loan to a club playing in the Copa Libertadores, South America’s Champions League.

Palmeiras, one of the dominant teams on the continent, were a natural choice.

The ideal plan for the Blues was to send the 18 year old there until December, with the chance to recall him this summer should he get clearance to play for the club in the meantime. But Palmeiras have put their foot down, and it looks like a return to Vasco de Gama – the team where he has made his name – is now on the cards.
