Chelsea have just spent another £300m on new players in the winter transfer market, after spending big in the summer as well.
But this will not stop them spending big again in the summer of 2023, according to a report this week.
Sources: Chelsea seeking Premier League proven strikers this summer!
The new owners are rebuilding the squad and there are still some positions they want to sign in to complete the overhaul.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea do not intend to sign another raft of players in the summer but are prepared to spend big again in a few key positions. One of those will be another forward.
The article is centered around Joao Felix, who of course is only on loan with no option to buy. So if they want to keep him this summer and going forward, then he is one of those players that they might have to spend big on.

You’d assume another midfielder might be targeted as well.
If only football was played with nothing but wingers and 10s—we’d be set, lol! Anyone think the next 75-100 million should be spent on a true #9? I know we’ve got Nkunku supposedly lined up for the summer, but he’s not a 9 either. Vlahovic is the only name I’ve heard. Why aren’t we hearing about other potential candidates? Heck, at some point, even Lukaku would be a better option than Havertz (who’s really most comfortable as a second center forward or a 10). Maybe he’s lost his eye for goal, but (unlike Havertz) Lukaku has the body to hold the ball up with back to goal and give guys like Felix and Mudryk someone to run off of. Besides that, he’s an aerial threat—something we don’t have now except when our center halves come forward on set pieces. He’s by no means my favorite option, but he has the virtue of being under contract with us and this Havertz business has got to stop.
