“Chelsea didn’t even open talks” – Blues winger chase this winter explained

Chelsea as always, were linked with a number of new potential attackers in the winter transfer window just passed.

They of course ended up landing Mykhailo Mudryk, hijacking the deal for him to join Arsenal at the last minute, and it came from nowhere.

But he wasn’t the only attacker they were pondering last month, according to Fabrizio Romano writing in his exclusive Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside.

Chelsea were also pondering moves for Cody Gakpo, who ended up joining Liverpool, and Marcus Thuram, who didn’t leave his club in the end.

But it was Mudryk who was always the priority, according to Romano at least, and Chelsea didn’t even open talks with PSV for Gakpo.

“Chelsea were just informed on Cody Gakpo deal conditions as they were for Marcus Thuram and many others, but top priority in that position was always Mykhaylo Mudryk; Chelsea didn’t even open talks with PSV,” Romano said.

“Gakpo was happy about Liverpool’s plans and how convinced they were about him.”

I think Chelsea will end up being more than happy with their selection going forward once Mudryk has settled in to the club and gelled with the rest of his team mates. Seems like a real quality player.
