Chelsea linked with average striker currently tearing up weaker league

Chelsea may have spent more than a quarter of a billion on players in the last 12 months, but they show no signs of slowing down now.

The Blues still need a striker, and a new player being linked to the club is Goncalo Ramos of Benfica.

Caughtoffside are among the sites reporting on rumours in Europe that the forward is high up on Chelsea’s list, and the club made preliminary moves towards buying him when they were securing the last minute deal for Enzo Fernandez.

He’s got 19 goals in the Liga NOS this season, with the Eagles running rampant at the top of the table, even without Fernandez.

Personally, we’re not sure we buy the rumour at all. Ramos is a solid player for Benfica, who play significantly weaker opposition 9 weeks out of 10. There’s no doubt he’s a solid all round player – but we don’t envision him being a star anytime son.
