Chelsea’s squad rebuild has somewhat been done at a very fast speed so far, with the new owners not messing about with their intentions and aspirations.
They want to see Chelsea challenging back at the top on all levels once again, and they are wasting no time in building the squad that they think will do just that.
Of course, they have made so many signings in the last two transfer windows that there is always going to be concerns about the players all gelling together.
And this is exactly what journalist Ben Jacobs has pointed towards this week in his exclusive Blues column in Si & Dan Talk Chelsea.
Jacobs was talking about Chelsea’s stalemate with Fulham on Friday night and how they struggled to break them down. Highlighting the new signings, Jacobs believes that Chelsea will now need some time to find their collective identity and find their feet.
“Chelsea’s new signings will need time to not just find their feet but develop that sense of collective identity,” Jacobs said. “And James, Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling (who I still think has a key role to play) can’t necessarily be expected to just return at their peak after time out injured.
“And therein lies the challenge. Chelsea need time, but they also don’t have it if they are to make a late push for Champions League football or beat Dortmund in the last 16 and go on a deep run in the competition.”
