Chelsea owner reportedly admitted to ex Chelsea defender that the club needs a striker

Former Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot told TalkSport that he was speaking to Todd Boehly and other Chelsea officials last night in Dortmund about the need for a striker.

Boehly, according to Melchiot, said “we already know” in reference to needing a striker.

Chelsea fans will be slightly confused as the club have pre agreed a deal to sign Christopher Nkunku, who can operate up front and has much more clinical finishing than Kai Havertz.

Despite that, he is not an out and out number nine, neither is Joao Felix, who you would expect Chelsea to try and buy next summer or at least retain him on another loan with a buy option/obligation to buy.

Chelsea have bigger things to worry about right now, none other than beating Southampton on Saturday but that still doesn’t take away the mystery of the future for Chelsea’s attack. One would hope the new recruitment officials such as Paul Winstanley and Lawrence Stewart will have a co ordinated plan for the summer.
