Chelsea pair have had “no contact” over new deals

With all of their January business now done, Chelsea are getting into gear sorting out contracts for the players they already own.

We’ve heard several times over the last few weeks that Thiago Silva is on the verge of a new deal, and that Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante’s talks remain stalemated.

But according to Nizaar Kinsella’s piece today, they aren’t the only ones. The Blues hierarchy’s focus on securing those two has meant that talks over new deals for Mateo Kovacic and Conor Gallagher have yet to take place.

As Kinsella points out, there’s plenty of chat about both of them potentially leaving the club next summer, and the longer they go without getting a new offer, the more likely that feels. Perhaps once Mount and Kante are nailed down, we will see the club move on to the other two midfielders – but equally, maybe their futures are already decided?
