Chelsea set to face managerless Southampton this weekend

Chelsea are playing bottom of the table Southampton this weekend, and the latest news reveals to us they will also be without a manager.

Talks with Jesse Marsch have broken down, meaning that the Saints are still searching for their third manager of the season. Sky Sports are today reporting that that hunt has been postponed until after the weekend, meaning there will be no permanent appointment in place by the time we play them at Stamford Bridge.

At that point it will be almost a week since Nathan Jones was fired, and it will to assistant coach Ruben Selles to take caretaker duties up against Chelsea.

Selles is an experienced coach who was assistant to both of the previous managers, and won’t leave the team totally unprepared. Nevertheless, this is as close to a tap in as you’ll get in terms of Premier League fixtures, and anything short of a win would be unacceptable.
