Part of the new ownership’s strategy since taking over at Chelsea has been reinforcing the academy and the development squad, and that looks set to continue.
Promising players have been brought in to top up the talents already in the academy, and the latest will sign today. Fabrizio Romano reported last week that the Blues had reached an agreement with Southampton for the transfer of 17 year old Jimmy-Jay Morgan for a fee of around £6m, if all conditions are met.

Now the Italian insider is reporting that the deal will be done today, with the medical already completed and the striker on his way to sign the paperwork. The initial fee will be £3m, and the contract will run until 2026.

The Blues have a strong connection with Southampton at youth level, and goalkeeper Eddie Beach made the switch not long ago – while Tino Livramento went the other way after finishing his time in the academy at Cobham.
