Graham Potter gives injury update on Ben Chillwell after substitution against Borussia Dortmund

Graham Potter provided an injury update last night after Ben Chilwell was substituted on the 71st minute, as cited by HampshireLive.

Chelsea fans will be glad to know first of that the substitution was planned in the first place having been recommended by the medical department that Ben should only play 60-70 minutes to build up fitness.

Ben seemed to be kicked down the side of the pitch just before being taken off however Potter does not seem to concerned about it, he told reporters last night: “About five minutes before he came off, he had a run down the side and had a kick on his ankle. I haven’t checked it over but I think it’s more of a kick than anything else and probably a little bit of fatigue”

Chilwell will be hoping to start against Southampton but I believe it is more likely that Marc Cucurella comes back into the starting 11 whilst Ben completes more minutes off the bench, especially if the kick to his ankle is swollen or in pain.

Chelsea fans are demanding more from Marc Cucurella and most importantly you should hope Marc is demanding more from himself after a string of lacklustre performances.

Graham Potter will need to see a better link up down the left hand side on the weekend with Mykhailo Mudryk struggling in recent matches.
