Graham Potter says there is no ‘long-term’ in the Chelsea job

Blues boss Graham Potter is readying his squad to travel to Germany this week for the next round of the Champions League.

He is off the back of two frustrating draws in the Premier League, coming after a poor run of form and performances.

Sources: Chelsea seeking Premier League proven strikers this summer!

But the club invested heavily in new players in January and they will take some time to settle and gel, but there are some positive signs of improvement already there, and Potter will be hoping to take that with him this week as he looks to get past Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 of the competition.

The pressure has been ramped up on Potter lately, which is just natural when you are in charge of a team like Chelsea. The former Brighton manager has even admitted that there is no long-term when you are the Chelsea manager.

In quotes cited by The Evening Standard, Potter said: “You can’t talk about the long-term because that doesn’t exist in this job. You have to acknowledge there’s a long term but there’s a short term and medium term that is challenging for us in terms of results.

“The experienced players know what we’ve been through. You’re talking about some top professionals who know football. While people on the outside may have an opinion on things, these guys have been around and know the challenges we’ve faced.

“They know the situation the club has been in and what’s happened. So then it’s about helping them get through it, the inevitable frustration because they want to win. We all do and the supporters do. That’s where it’s been challenging.”
