Graham Potter to be judged on “years” as Chelsea boss rather than individual games or months

Graham Potter will be judged on years rather than games or months at a time, reports David Ornstein from The Athletic.

Chelsea’s hierarchy feel like they have appointed one of the best managers in the game and are prepared to give him substantial time in charge of Chelsea. A decision was made very early on to not judge Potter if he does not qualify for the Champions League next season.

Chelsea currently sit 9th in the Premier League table and fans at games and on social media are regularly questioning whether he is the right man for the job.

It is a bit of a strange season, Chelsea still have the Champions League to compete in and try and win but the current situation in the league means it is unlikely that Chelsea can mount a top four charge.

Graham Potter has come under fire from fans for his press conferences before and after games due to his laid back attitude, many Chelsea fans feel the club is missing a leader in charge, someone who motivates the players and gives fans a reason to want to hope for the future.

Most fans watched every Thomas Tuchel press conference but now some regularly find themselves forgetting when Potter’s conferences are even on, which is not a good sign for connections between fan and manager.
