“He made him cry” – John Obi Mikel talks about Mourinho’s dealings with players

John Obi Mikel said that Jose Mourinho made Mohammed Salah cry in the dressing room whilst he was at Chelsea.

In a discussion with radio station Dubai eye, Mikel gave insight onto how different managers treat players.

He revealed that the players liked working under Carlo Ancelotti the most as the trainings were really fun but also the way he dealt with players really helped, he never shouted and everyone enjoyed working under him… sound familiar? Yes, Graham Potter is credited with this similar kind of man management.

On Mourinho, Mikel said he was a “different animal” and in reference to Mohammed Salah, revealed that “he made him cry” at half time of one fixture.

It just goes to show the difference in man management, some managers get their message across by shouting and going wild but it seems to me that at least in the modern era, players resonate more with managers who conduct themselves in a calm manner.
