“I am sure Graham Potter does” – Pat Nevin on manager’s plans for Chelsea attack

Pat Nevin’s column on the Chelsea website is on a topic we all understand right now – the excitement that came from seeing the Blues’ new signings in action on Saturday, and the added thrill of knowing that Joao Felix is now available to join them too.

The pain of Felix’s ban after an impressive debut is almost over, and this weekend’s game will be Potter’s first chance to pick exactly those three players together for the first time.

As Nevin says though – let’s not get our hopes too high just yet. It’s never easy to integrate players into top teams – and three at once is going to be even harder.

“It is all about the mix now and getting time to find out what and who works together,” the former Blues winger explained.

“I am sure I am not the only one who wants to see what a fully fit Mudryk, a settled Fernandez and an unbanned Joao Felix would look like together in the same team for a few weeks in a row. I am not sure when this will happen and it may fit perfectly or it might not, but I would like to see it at some point and I am sure Graham Potter does too.”

We’re all in the same boat now – trying desperately not to get carried away by our hopes and dreams. Let’s give these guys a few weeks to get settled both in the country and in the team before we raise expectations too much.

Equally, it’s an early kick off against a struggling West Ham… what better platform for the new guys to shine?
