Not only did Chelsea make some top class signings into their first team in the summer and again in January, they also signed top young players for the future as part of their long-term vision.
The club are clearly investing in young players that they believe can end up becoming world beaters, and one of those was midfielder Cesare Casadei.
The Italian has an impressive stature and he was really impressing for Chelsea’s U21s this season. Then in January, he went out on loan to Reading in order to get some vital senior football in a tough league.
He’s taken a bit of time to settle in and find his feet, which is entirely natural for any player coming from a new league. But Reading boss Paul Ince was really pleased with Casadei’s latest performance and believes he is now starting to settle in and show what he can do.
In words cited by Berkshire Live, Ince said: “I was really pleased with Casadei. I brought him back in [to the starting 11]. When you come in from a foreign country like Italy, the tempo of the football is a lot different to Championship football. He’s needed that extra few weeks in training to get that tempo and you saw that against Blackpool.
“You can see he is getting there, though, and sometimes you look and wish he was our player! But he’s not. he has to go back to Chelsea. He did really, really well and he’ll get better.”
