“I watched this team growing up” – Teenage talent on coming to the Premier League

Chelsea’s media team have worked their way through a bug chunk of the new signings that have arrived this season, and they’re now getting on to some of the lesser known ones.

Up next is Gabriel Slonina, the young American goalkeeper who talked us through what it’s like being wrapped up this whirlwind. He’s gone from 16 year old MLS starter to playing for the USA in the space of 18 months – and things got even crazier in August when he joined Chelsea.

“After I signed in August it’s been an incredible journey and honestly it still doesn’t feel real, coming in and training at the Chelsea facilities. I watched this team growing up and it’s a dream come true,” the 6’4 stopper glowed.

With so many problems in goal over the last few years, Slonina will be desperately hoping that the club hold off on buying a new glovesman this summer so he has a chance to compete. You don’t see many keeper starting in the Premier League before the age of 20, but Slonina has broken records through all of his career thus far.
